Kedartal (also known as Shiva’s lake) is a glacial lake situated at an altitude of 4,750 meters (15,580 ft) in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas in India. The lake is fed by the snowfall over Thalay Sagar , Meru , Bhrigupanth and other surrounding peaks, and is the source of Kedar Ganga, which in Hindu mythology is considered to be Shiva‘s contribution to Bhagirathi(a source-stream of the Ganges). Kedartal, at a distance of 17 km from Gangotri, is a popular trekking destination. Starting from Gangotri the route involves a steep rocky climb along the narrow Kedar Ganga gorge en route to Bhoj Kharak.

Dehradun is the starting point of our adventurous trek to the glacial lake surrounded by lofty mountains and beautiful environment. We will drive from Dehradun to Uttarkashi, enjoying the scenic journey crossing the abundant valleys inscribed by mighty Bhagirathi River. On reaching Uttarkashi overnight say will be in camps.
After having some tasty breakfast we will start trekking towards the holy town dedicated to Goddess Ganga ‘Gangotri’. Gangotri, the origin of the River Ganges and seat of the goddess Ganga, is one of the four sites in the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. The views of the Himalayan ranges are astounding. Every year huge number of pilgrims visits the Gangotri shrine. On reaching Gangotri, we will have some hot yummy dinner and enjoy the night stay at camps.
Waking up to a chilled new morning we will have some delicious breakfast and start trekking towards Bhoj Karak which is located at a distance of around 8 kilometers. Trekking alongside the lush green valleys, pine and deodar trees and the cascading Kedar Ganga will be an experience for life. Overnight stay will be at camps.
So, today is the 4th day of our adventurous journey and we are all set to trek towards Kedar Kharak which is located around 4-5 Kilometers from Bhoj Karak. Kedar Kharak offers splendid view of snow clad peaks and takes you through the birch forest to give you a clear view of the magnificent Bhrigupanth peak. Overnight stay will be at camps.
Post breakfast we will start trekking towards Kedar Tal-The Glacial Lake. The trek being bit tiring today doesn’t make you feel tired as it offers an unparallel view of the hazy sapphire Kedar Tal with lofty Thalay Sagar peak in the background. Overnight stay will be at the camps.
Wake up early today so that you can capture and view the beautiful sunrise in the Himalayas, seems like sun kisses the snow-clad mountains and wakes them up to a bright new morning throwing its golden glitter all over the white snow, lush green valleys and rivers. Capturing all these moments will head back to Bhoj Karak and will stay in tents at night.
From Bhoj Kharak to Gangotri will be an easy walk of around 8 Kilometers. From Gangotri we will drive back to Uttarkashi and end up staying at the camps after a long tiring day.
After having some luscious breakfast we will bid adieu to the beautiful Uttarkashi and drive back towards Dehradun. This will be the end of our journey and we will carry back home the adventurous memories with us.
