Sandakhpu (3636 m; 11,941 ft) is the highest peak in the district of Ilam, Nepal and West Bengal, India. It is the highest point of the Singalila Ridge in Darjeeling district on the West BengalNepal border. The peak is located at the edge of the Singalila National Park and has a small village on the summit. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, EverestKanchenjungaLhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. It also affords a pristine view of the entire Kanchenjunga Range. This place offers magnificent view of snow-clad mountains, meadows and lush green valleys. This is one of the astounding and adventurous treks in India.

Day 01 Arrive in Jaubhari



Day 02 Jaubhari to Tumling  

So, today is the first day of our adventurous journey and we are heading towards Tumling. The trek is moderate with you come across some flat sections and steep climbs. Today we will cover a distance of around 10 Kms. The trail composes of stony paths, muddy areas & grasslands. You may also spot Red Panda here. Here you witness India on your right-hand side & Nepal on your left. Tumling is on the India Nepal Border. Overnight stay will be at Tonglu which is a few hundred meters before Tumling.


Day 03 Tumling to Kalipokhri

Wake-up to a new glorious morning and capture the beautiful sunrise in the mountains. The view of Kanchenjunga peaks seems like sleeping Buddha. Trekking towards Kalipokhri we enter the national park and from here we can see Mt. Everest. Kalipokhri translates to the Black lake and is exactly on the Nepal India border. You can visit a small Buddha temple near the lake. Overnight stay will be at camps near the lake.


Day 04 Kalipokhri to Sandakhpu

Today is the 4th day of our trek and we will be trekking towards Sandakhpu. Today’s trek will be an easier one and will take us up to 4-5 hours to complete it. From Kalipokhri the trail step by step leads you into Bikheybhanjang which is a small village. It literally means the “Poisonous valley” because of the Poisonous Aconite plants that grow here in abundance. Moving further the climb is quite steep before Sandakhpu. On reaching Sandakhpu the views of 4 of the highest mountains in the world ; Mt Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Chomolhari, Pandim, Three Sisters, Kumbhakarna etc.  Will keep you awe-struck and you just can’t have enough of it. Overnight stay will be at camps.


Day 05 Sandakhpu to Sabargam

After having some delicious breakfast we will start trekking towards Sabargam. The trail is long of around 15 kilometers, but a moderate one. The route through which you trek offers you panoramic views of Mother Nature. The trail takes you through dense forests of Rhododendron. Overnight stay will be at camps.


Day 06 Sabargam to Gorkhey via Phalut

Post breakfast we will start trekking and the trail is quite easy today with mostly a descending trail. Views of Kanchenjunga on your left will keep you we-struck throughout the trek. It will take us about 5 hours to reach Gorkhey. Once we cross Gorkhey River we enter Sikkim. Overnight stay will be at camps.


Day 07 Gorkhey to Sepi

Today is the last day of our adventurous trek and post breakfast we will start trekking towards Sepi crossing the Sammamden and Rammam villages, and our trek ends here.
