DAY 03 : Leh – Zingchen (4300m) – Yurutse (4150m)

DAY 04 : Yurutse (4150m) – Ganda La (4800m) – Skiu (3400m)

Today’s trek will start with an ascent to Ganda La – a steep climb with strong winds as we proceed to the later half of the day. The pass will offer you views of both sides of the valleys along with distant views of the Zanskar range. Next, we will descent to Shingo village after which our path leads us to a narrow gorge, leading towards Skiu – a place where rivers coming from the Markha valley and Shingo meet. Overnight stay in tents, at Skiu.

A short walk will take us to Nimalain campsite – a place with an open valley, unrestricted brazing grounds and the Kangyatze Peak in the background. The constant wind blowing in this area may make it uncomfortable. If we wish, we can take a short trip today to the base camp of Kangyatse. Overnight stay in tents.

An early breakfast and a steep climb later, we will reach the top of the highest pass on our trail, the Kongmaru La at 5200 m. The destination will reward you the mindblowing sights of Nun Kun in the west and Saser Kangri in the North! This trek was one of the best experiences of my life. I have had many adventurous experiences across the world, but the this was unique. The customer service was outstanding. The tents and equipment provided where in great condition and we were always warm and dry. The horses which carried all the gear were well fed and cared for by the pony man. They all looked very happy and healthy compared to some of the others horses we saw along the way. Aahvan Adventures were professional, have fantastic knowledge and experience, but what I liked the most is how trustworthy they were!!! Good for: adventure, All tourists, hiking trekking walking, Fit people of all ages, amazing nature..

The trek was amazing. We did it in April which I can recommend because you are the only one on the mountains next to a handful of local farmers and the wildlife. We saw Bharal, Gray Wolves hunting a Yak!, Golden Eagle, Chukar Partridges..The organisation of the trekking was 100%. Good staff, new gear, lovely food, strong and healthy horses, friendly guides and a ecological approach..Thanks Aahvan Adventures !

We all had a fabulous, memorable experience in a spectacular part of the world, mostly as a result of the cheerful attention, professionalism and local knowledge of the team. We would recommend them to anyone and many operators in more developed parts of the world could learn from their example. If I have to describe this trek in one word, I will say ‘wow’ !!!!
